The month of December was crazy, exciting and full of adventure!! Dave actually has been going to school full time this past year and graduated from ASU. It was a hard decision to make but it paid off. He starts a great job on Tuesday!! Emmett and Fisher are growing fast and are keeping us way too busy. So check out what we have been doing this month.

Emmett got this sweet toy from Grandma and Grandpa Hawks for Christmas.

We spent Christmas at home this year. It was great to relax with our little family. Emmett would open one present and play with it for an hour or MORE! By the end of the day I was opening presents for him so we could be done.

After Christmas we went to Las Vegas to meet with Amy to celebrate Dave's Birthday.

We picked up four bunk beds at Costco and put them all in the truck. The clerk at Costco thought we were crazy but then I explained we were mormon and we had 10 kids at home along with the 2 with us. ;)

Dave's yummy birthday cake. Actually it LOOKED yummy but it tasted not so yummy! I made the cake then ate it and thought something was a little off. The oil I used was 3 years OLD!! Yikes! We just ate the frosting.

Emmett made us light the candles a lot so he could blow them out.

Emmett just got another brother. He loves watching him climb the trees and just loves how his skin sparkles. He even loves to pet his hair.

P.S. I got this doll as a joke from my sis-in-law. I have had it in the box but Emmett saw it and totally wanted to play with the doll. We went to a Veterans Day parade later in the day and Emmett refused to leave "Edward" at home so "Edward" came along. I have never gotten so many weird looks from people!!

Fisher: 5 Months Old!

Wow! Time has flown by!! Fisher is 20 lbs and still gaining more pounds as we speak. He loves playing with Emmett and just laying around. He rolled over a few weeks ago but hasn't done it agian. I was actually doing the dishes and found him on his belly. Maybe Emmett helped him. ;) We got out the jumper and he enjoys it too.

Halloween: Part 1

We went to the ward Halloween party last night. We were able to eat really good chili! ( I won the chili cook-off for most flavorful!!) Emmett didn't understand trunk or treating till the kids were coming to the car getting candy and then he totally understood. He grabbed his treat bag and ran for the cars. It was fun this year to have a toddler that enjoys it. I am worried a bit worried about all this candy we are getting because we have already had skittles and Swedish fish for breakfast.

Pumpkin Patch

We were able to go to a great pumpkin patch that had tons of fun activities. We saw pig racing, a dog show, saw farm animals and the list goes on. It was awesome!!

Emmett is finally really playing with his trains. The first two months we threw the trains and tracks causing destruction the second after we put the track together. Then one day he finally let Dave put the track together and played on it for a few minutes. PROGRESS!! He now loves to play in his room with the track intact!!

Emmett turned 2. We began the day having some yummy french toast. We had a Slip'n Slide birthday party and invited all of his cousins to the party so it was a lot of fun. Emmett loves playing with his cousins because he wants to be just like them. Monkey see monkey do!!

As you can see Emmett loved it so much that he began drinking the water.

Since Emmett is a dinosaur freak I made a dinosaur cake for his birthday. He immediately grabbed the dinosaurs and ran away to play with them. He didn't even want to eat the cake.

Emmett got some great birthday presents. His cousins enjoyed helping him open them.

They had a festival downtown with lots of fun activities for families.

We also did some fireworks at home. Emmett thought they were really cool.

They had some bounce houses for kids to play in. Emmett was loving it!! We had to drag him away from the bounce house. He screamed as we walked away.

Did I mention that is was 118 Degrees outside!! A record high!

The Story of Fisher

It has been a month and I am still alive. Who knew having two kids could be so crazy! Here is the story of how Fisher arrived into the world. On Thursday, June 9, I was suppose to be induced but the hospital was completely full so we decided since it was a great day that we should go to the pool. I know you are thinking we are crazy but it was so hot. Emmett enjoyed it way too much.

On Friday, June 9, we called the hospital and they were still really full. I had a DR.'s appointment that afternoon. My doctor reassured me that we were going to have this baby tonight or Saturday. That night at 11 pm the hospital called to tell us to come. Really 11 pm at night?!?! So we packed our bags and headed to the hospital. After getting all the drugs we just sat and waited...

My water was broken that morning around 10. Things progressed faster after that and Fisher arrived at 1:09 that afternoon. This time labor was a lot easier and the recovery was better too. Fisher has lots of hair like Emmett.

The weather is HOT so we went to a splash pad. Emmett was nervous at first but eventually warmed up and enjoyed running around.

This kid loves laying on hot cement. He is our lizard.

He enjoyed going down the slide.

After a while he finally ran through the water. These pictures are in order and are just too funny.

Now you can see how kids go from nervous to scared to happy in seconds.

Las Vegas

Amy (Dave's sister) had a conference in Las Vegas and invited us to join her. It was a bit close to my due date but we figured we needed some fun! We were able to go to the pool a lot during the day and then hang out with Amy during the evenings.

(She actually likes going to conferences!! Ha ha)

Emmett loves animals so we went to the Bass Pro Shop. Emmett freaked out when we put him on the 4 wheeler. It was just too funny.

While going to the pool we saw this "pool guy" cleaning the pool and thought he was really HOT!

This is a brand new ride in Las Vegas for kids. It was FREE and so much fun! We rode it multiple times!

We were able to go to an aquarium at Mandalay Bay. We enjoyed seeing the sharks and sting rays.

Thanks Amy for inviting us! It was a fun trip!

Day in the life of Emmett

I begin the day with strength training. I have decided to train for the 2024 Olympics in the rings. I demanded that my parents get me the proper equipment so I could be the best. Of course since I am so cute they got me the equipment.

My coach(mom) informed me that my dismount is very important so I am practicing my cute smile for the judges. Ladies love me!

After exercising I usually run errands with my mom or dad. I do not like to waste time in the car so I will always bring good reading material along for the ride. I am currently reading up on Dinosaurs. So fascinating! Grandpa McNaughton has taught me well.

In the afternoon I need my beauty sleep. This particular day my Dad was really grumpy so I made him lay down too. We are all happier when we get more rest!

My parents are still making me cook dinner a few nights a week for them. I can understand why mom gets so frustrated when she doesn't know what to make. I feel the same too!!

I decided to go with plastic french fries. YUMMY!

Oh yea I forgot to ask....

Fun at the Zoo!

We enjoyed a warm day at the Zoo. They have a splash pad area for kids to play in at the Zoo so we let Emmett run around. He really wanted to go down a water slide but needed help so Dave went down too! He had a wet bum the rest of the day. What a fun dad! Sorry no pictures of me...its just too depressing.

We thought Emmett would love to ride the carousel but he refused to ride on the animals. He really just wanted to run around and check everything out.

Easter Sunday

The Easter Bunny came for Emmett this year! He enjoyed collecting the eggs in the backyard. I filled some of them with little cars so he really got excited when he opened the eggs. Oh yeah...did I mention that he loves candy!! He was on a sugar high all afternoon.

We were able to go to Sean's graduation at BYU. It was my first trip without Emmett so I was sad to go but Dave is super Dad and kept Emmett busy having fun. It was a great trip with just adults and we enjoyed shopping, going out to dinner and staying up late!

On Friday we went to Provo Beach Resort and did the wave machine. It was a lot of fun.

Children's Phoenix Museum

The first Friday of every month the museum is FREE. We decided to check it out since Emmett is older. He had a great time!

We don't have stairs at our house so he loves walking up and down the stairs.

At the museum there is a HUGE fort structure made out of steel. It is four stories high. I am freaked out by heights so I didn't do it but Emmett loved that he could run wild and not worry about falling.

Day in the life of Emmett

When I wake up in the morning I find I look my best so I have a morning photoshoot.

Since I like to keep up on current events I do my reading while eating breakfast.

My mom takes too many pictures of me...give me a break!

I then take the bus to work in the morning (sometimes the drop off is a little rough). I think the bus driver doesn't like me.

My parents started me working a few months back because they thought I was mooching off them too much. I started a online baby chat site that actually has become very lucrative. Its called babybook. I am on the computer a lot chatting with other hot babes online.

I also answer calls but sometimes I get bad connection.

During the week I cook dinner a few times a week with my dad. Since I am a messy cook I prefer to be naked with only diaper and cooking gloves. It helps me focus.

This is me in laughing at my parents when they say I have to go to bed.

When going to bed I got in big trouble cause I got caught reading one of my moms romance novels.

Do I look guilty?

Dave had a great birthday. We did a delicious breakfast! Then went to PF Chang's for dinner and saw Tron. It was a fun day. We realized as we get older just getting a sitter and watching a movie without an 18 month old is the best present!

We had a great Christmas this year. Emmett kind of understood Christmas. He enjoyed opening presents! We were lucky enough to have Dave's family come to Arizona for the week. They all enjoyed the beautiful weather.On Christmas morning we were able to have our own Christmas morning for Emmett. He loved seeing the basketball hoop in the morning.

We went to the Temple lights one night. Emmett was a bit mad he couldn't take the lights home with us.

Projects from the Year

Since moving into our house I have been busy doing some fun projects over the year. Dave never gets excited when I mention some of the ideas I have because it means he has more work to do. He is a great assistant! Check them out!

This is the laundry room/pantry. It was an eyesore.

I wanted to do a fun color to brighten the room. I took all the cabinet doors off to make it more open. Dave painted the picture behind the hooks(freehand). I don't mind having an artist as a husband.

We actually got this table for Emmett's baby room but it was too big. It sat in the garage for the last year. I eventually found the perfect color and spot for it.

Emmett loves playing in the backyard with his basketball. We planted a garden and its growing like crazy.

It took Emmett a while to learn to walk but he finally is an avid walker. Since he wants to become a marathon runner(like his mom) we got him some sweet kicks.

Dave got some free tickets from work so we enjoyed seeing all the sites at the State Fair.We went to the petting zoo and Emmett loved petting the animals.

We then went to the ToddlerTown area and let Emmett play all of the games.

We then headed over to the Dinosaur Exhibit. All of the dinosaurs were moving and making sounds. Emmett was nervous when we first walked in but then he started growling back so he felt much better.

Mac & Emmett are best buds. Mac is 11 yrs old so he just lays on the ground and lets Emmett roll right on top. Mac is a great dog but he is demanding!! While eating Mac makes Emmett massage his back. It helps him digest his food better so he says....

My sister was moving so I helped babysit my nephews. Emmett was entertained the entire time. Jackson and Colton had fun playing with Emmett in the baby pool and sprinkler. The baby pool was a little small for 3 boys but we still had fun.

Some people gave us a few toys including this slide. I figured Emmett would be too little to play on it but he loves this slide. He climbs up and down the slide all day. He usually goes head first but just today he figured out how to sit and go down the slide. Those pictures will be coming soon!

His new thing is to point to everything.

Emmett has been helping me water the garden so he likes to hold the hose and help.

Washington: Seattle Day!

We got to go to Seattle one day during our trip to WA. We went to Pike Place Market and while walking around we found a restaurant that we loved. Can you figure out why?

While eating lunch Emmett kept grabbing the can of pop. We finally gave it to him. Don't worry the can was empty! But I might have a problem in few years when he'll want the can full of pop.

After Pike Place Market we met David's parents at Seattle Science Center. Emmett's favorite activity at the Science Center was playing with water with Grandpa Hawks.

Washington Trip: Lake & Golf Course!

The weather in Washington was incredible so we enjoyed playing on the lake and going for boat rides.

We also went to a golf course that is on the Puget Sound. The golf course used be a gravel pit so some of the structures are still on the golf course. They are actually going to have the PGA Tour come to this course in a few years. While we walked around the course they were just preparing for the Amateur PGA Golf Tour which was starting in a few days. The views were amazing!

Washington Trip:Part 1

We were able to go to Washington to visit my parents. Emmett had a lot of fun crawling everywhere. He would climb the stairs all the time. We slowly taught him to go down the stairs feet first but he still enjoyed going down head first.

There is a great park with a pond and playground close to my parents house so we went and enjoyed ourselves in the cool weather.

Emmett made some new friends at the zoo.

Emmett loved to climb and bounce on this mini trampoline. My mom just got the new Ipad so Dave pretty much played on it most of the trip.

Emmett's Birthday

When we got back from CA we had another party with Emmett's cousins.

We decorated cupcakes for the party.

I made the Happy Birthday banner for his birthday.

Avery & Madeline thought it was a good idea to dress up for the party.

Of course we had to have a pinata!

Yosemite National Park

One of the days we went to Yosemite Park. We left the babies at home so it made the drive a lot better. We went on two hikes to see some waterfalls. The first one only took 15 mins to hike then the other was 1.5 miles. We thought that would be so easy. IT WAS NOT! We had to hike at a 90 degree angle the entire way up. At one point we were walking next to a cliff. It was freaky! The waterfall was amazing and we were really happy when we finally made it to the top but then realized that we had to hike back down.

This is halfway to the waterfall. We hiked to the very top of the waterfall.

This is the railing with the cliff. It was a 100 foot drop to the the bottom.

Twain Harte Lake

We were able to go to Twain Harte Lake while on vacation. It is a small lake with real sand. It was great famiy fun.

Emmett refuses to walk. We are trying but he just loves to crawl! I think he likes to crawl like the dogs.

We went around the lake on these bikes.

Calavaras Big Trees

We went to the Calavaras Big Trees National Park while in CA. It was incredible to see how big the trees grow. The bear below was carved from one tree just using an electric saw.

This is a stump from the biggest tree at the park. When it was first discovered they cut it down so they could take it to fairs to show people. A lot of people became angry and turned the area into a national park. The stump used to have dances and people would bowl on top of it.

This is a root of a big tree that fell over.

In the 1800's carriages would go through this tree.

Twain Harte

We were able to go to CA for the Hawks family reunion. We went to a small town called Twain Harte. Here are some fun pictures from the trip.

This is Scott Emmett's cousin. He was being a good helper.

We celebrated Emmett's birthday with everyone.

This is Dave's brother Chris with his son Nathan.Nathan is only 6 months older than Emmett.

There was a park down the street and all the kids loved it. Emmett loved climbing the slide and then going down the slide.

Emmett was so funny when he started eating the cake. He didn't really like the sticky frosting on his fingers.

Grandma brought along a marble ramp for the kids to play with for the trip. Emmett loved putting the marbles in the ramp to see them go down.

Beach Day!

The past few weeks we have been on vacation visiting family & friends. We began the journey to CA on Emmett's birthday. We were on our way to Twain Harte and along the way we stopped to see our friends the Johnsons. We showed up at the Johnsons around midnight. The Johnson's gave Emmett is first birthday present and you can tell he loved it!

This is the Johnsons. We met them at BYU. They have two cute boys that Emmett loved playing with.

Emmett loved playing in the sand. We were there for two hours and he didn't even want to hang out with me.

Cool Evening...

It was a cooler evening (98 Degrees) so we hung out in the front yard and took some fun pictures.

A neighbor was going to throw away this cool tool box so I took it. I painted our address on it and eventually I'll plant some flowers in it. Emmett fit perfect.

UTAH TRIP!!!

We went to Utah for 4th of July weekend. We actually surprised Dave's parents who were visiting in UT at the same time.

Dave's mom when we walked in the restaurant to surprise them.

On Saturday night we went to Stadium of Fire. Carrie Underwood was the entertainment and she was so good. The fireworks were amazing! Emmett loved watching the fireworks.

On Sunday we had a family BBQ. Then on Saturday we were able to go to the Parade and festival in Provo.

We got french toast at Kneaders!!

We also had fun at Scera Pool.

Pool Party

Since Sean was in town we had a pool party at Troy's house. Emmett loves this floaty. He enjoyed watching the kids jump in the pool and play.

It is a sad day....Emmett found the doggie door. If there is sudden silence in the house I know that he is going out the door. He loves just sticking out his head and grabbing the rocks.

Hired Help

So with working part-time and being a busy mom I figured I deserved to get some help around the house. I hired a cleaning company to come and clean the house. When the cleaning "boy" came the first time he said he needed to get to know the equipment I had. He hit the vacuum a few times and then began licking it. Let's just say it went from weird to creepy really fast. I was a bit disappointed with the cleaning but I thought I would give them a second chance.

On the second trip the cleaning "boy" brought along his assistants.They vacuumed and mopped. I was impressed!
